George ‘Nighthawk’ Lilly has finally put together his dream band after more than 50 years of professional performance. The Alf-Fast Allstarz band is a pounding rhythm section that powerfully incarnates Louisiana influenced Blues and R & B rhythms and melodies with powerful saxophone sounds. Lilly apparently has no website and there is hardly any information on the internet. Also on the website of promoter Hemifran, no information has been released. However, musician and sound technician Lilly has more than fifty years of experience in the music business. In the seventies, he was the sound engineer for a lot of heavy metal bands.
The album ‘Thinkin’ About You Baby ‘is now being released on its own label Snake Gator Music, where Lilly is also chief cook & bottle washer. Lilly’s own original songs are interspersed with classic blues songs. For example, we find ‘Crazy About You Baby’, original by Little Walter, just like ‘All Your Love’ (I Miss Lovin ‘) by Otis Rush, Mose Allison’s’ Parchman Fram’, ‘So Well When You’re Well’ ‘by James Booker, the song’ Snatch It Back ‘by Buddy Guy & Junior Wells and’ Walking The Dog ‘the world hit by Rufus Thomas, which is colored with handsome saxophone parts. ‘Catfish Blues’ is again from Robert Petway, just like ‘Somewhere Down The Line’ which is original by Little Johnny Taylor. Lilly is happy to put all these songs in other arrangements. And are they not a faint decoction that so often comes to the fore. So the New Orleans sound is never far away. The title track, ‘Just Because’ and ‘Love, Love, Love’ are by their own hands and do not fall short of the finely sophisticated cover material. George Lilly And The Alf-Fast Allstarz band were noble unknown artists to this day. Fortunately, we were introduced to the clever release ‘Thinkin’ About You ‘.
